Blocking without losing the page
An overlay in the site's own colors — the page stays intact underneath.
LockyFeed doesn't block forever. It puts a pause before the feed and asks "why?" — and your hand often stops on its own.

The block page takes on the site's own color. The popup shows every rule and a pause for 5 / 15 / 30 min.
Opened Instagram to check a message — came out an hour later, the feed had scrolled itself. LockyFeed becomes a pause before the "enter" button and asks "why?" — often that's enough to remember.
An overlay in the site's own colors — the page stays intact underneath.
A quiet countdown in the corner, +2/+5 min once per session.
One click in the popup, and every rule is paused.
Tighten instantly. Loosen only after a 1–72 hr wait.
Attempts, blocks, time, and your "whys" in one place.
From a gentle joke to outright teasing — depending on the visit.
Social media and forums out of the box, plus your own sites.
Light and dark, switching itself with your OS theme.
All settings in one JSON file, no cloud.
36 presets or your own domain.
Your own strictness level for each site.
Time's up — the overlay covers the feed on its own.
Not a single "block" button, but a strictness scale — choose how much friction to add per site.
Before entry — a short delay and a "why?" field. Answer it, and you get a session of a few minutes. Reflexive opens become deliberate ones.

A hard block, no exceptions. The site is closed, full stop — no "just one more look." Blocks before the page even loads, so the feed never flashes on screen.

Instead of "You have exceeded your limit," the block page says something human. Each visit that day, the line gets sharper — from gentle to blunt.
YouTube can be blocked too. But we know — you love the music.
So block the feed, Shorts, and recommendations — and keep the music.
Music plays — the feed stays quietShorts isn't music. It's a forty-minute funnel.
Hard blockers work — until you need to "just check something." Willpower works — until it's tired. LockyFeed is about the space in between.
| Criterion | our approachLockyFeed | Hard blocker | Willpower |
|---|---|---|---|
| You can enter, but not on autopilot | pause, Peek, limit | all or nothing | while you have the energy |
| Your own strictness per site | 4 modes + schedule | one level for everything | |
| Time's up — the feed isn't lost | overlay on top of the page | redirect or a closed tab | |
| YouTube without Shorts, but with music | a separate mode | all of YouTube or nothing | |
| Protection from yourself at 2am | 1–72 hr cool-off | sometimes a password | no |
| Price and data | free, 0 requests | often a subscription | free, but costly |
Yes, if you really want to — you can disable the extension in the browser. LockyFeed isn't a jail, it's a pause for people who genuinely want to scroll less. For something stricter, there's Strict mode with a 1–72 hr cool-off on loosening.
The pill timer gives you +2 or +5 minutes once per session, and the popup has "Pause everything" for 5 / 15 / 30 min. Urgent access is always possible.
No. No network requests, accounts, or analytics — everything stays local. The only way data leaves is a manual JSON export.
By default, Chrome doesn't run extensions in incognito. Allow it for LockyFeed in chrome://extensions if you want the pause there too.
Yes, in every Chromium-based browser — from the Chrome Web Store once the listing is live, or as an unpacked build. Blocking happens before the page loads, so it behaves the same everywhere.
Because social media lives in the browser too, and checking messages once a day is normal. LockyFeed doesn't take away access — it adds friction where your hand reaches on its own.
Free, no account, no server. The feed isn't going anywhere — and you'll remember why you came.
I didn't want to quit social media — there's real stuff there: people I actually talk to, music I actually listen to. The problem was something else — I kept opening the feed without deciding to.
I tried everything: hard blockers — and disabled them for "just one quick look"; deleted the apps — and opened the same thing in the browser. The common thread was all-or-nothing.
I wanted a third option: entry allowed, but not on autopilot. A few seconds between your hand reaching out and the feed — and the question "why?" Often there's no answer, and the tab closes itself. That's how Peek, the daily limit, and YouTube "music only" came to be.
LockyFeed doesn't collect or send anything anywhere — I don't even need a server to count how many times I opened Instagram. If an account or a subscription ever shows up, that's a different product.
One last thing: LockyFeed jokes — "The feed won't miss you" — not to shame you, but to knock you off autopilot for a second and get a smile. Hope it helps you too.
